  • Bring the classroom to Jerrabomberra Wetlands with our flexible Schools Program. There are opportunities available for all age groups and teaching styles. From Preschool to Year Twelve, JW can tailor Ranger facilitated tours and other ‘hands on’ activities to align with curriculum topics.

  • Some themes include wildlife, water quality, Indigenous culture, scientific monitoring, evaluation and environmental management.

  • Primary age activity, Bush and Water Bug Detectives, sees students piece together clues such as scats and tracks to work out what animals inhabit the wetlands. They also collect and identify water bugs, which are good indicators of water quality.

  • Charges are $8 per student (including GST). For further information please contact: Andrew O’Meara at tours@woodlandsandwetlands.org.au

  • Bush Art: Take a walk around the Wetlands with the Ranger and along the way collect a variety of materials for you to make a brilliant masterpiece with back at the education centre. $8 per child. Book tickets here: https://jerrabomberrawetlands.org.au/event/bt5/

  • Boomerang Making: Create and decorate your very own boomerang with Ngunnawal man Richie Allan. • Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve is one of the most valuable wetland habitat areas in the ACT, and of national and international importance. A refuge for migrating birds from the northern hemisphere and inland Australia, Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve is part of Canberra Nature Park, and is located on the Molonglo River floodplain only four kilometres from Canberra’s City centre.

  • Take a stroll through the wetlands and discover a unique array of wetland and terrestrial habitats, remnants of the wetland’s agricultural origins, and learn about the ecology of this precious place. Pathways and bird hides will help you discover the delights of wildlife watching.

The Jerrabomberra Wetlands Management Committee helps the ACT Government manage the Wetlands. It is constituted by the Capital Woodlands and Wetlands Conservation Trust Board which also helps manage the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary.
