In 2021, there are three AAEE ACT Environmental Education Excellence Awards

- The 2021 Emerging Educator for the ACT Community - community educators with 5 years or less experience. Emerging categories - apply here, or contact us at aaeeact@gmail.com
- The 2021 Emerging Educator for the ACT Schools - early childhood and schools educators or students with 5 years or less experience. Emerging categories - apply here, or contact us at aaeeact@gmail.com
Nominees may self-nominate but must provide supporting referees. If a nomination is made on behalf of someone else, the nominator must advise if the nominee knows they are being nominated. Only awardees who are AAEE members can be considered for the ACT Open and National awards, however, in 2021 both the emerging educator awardees will be granted complimentary 1-year memberships.

The 2021 Emerging Educator for the ACT - Early childhood and schools category - 5 years or less experience
The Early Childhood and Schools category award is for individuals that have, within the past 5 years, demonstrated a positive impact or impacts within a tertiary, secondary, primary school or early years educational site to improve environmental and environmental education outcomes. For student participants, this award specifically recognises positive environmental outcomes as a criterion.

The 2021 ACT Emerging Environmental Education Excellence Award - Community category - 5 years of less experience
The Community category recognises individuals that have, within the past 5 years, demonstrated positive impact within their community context to improve environmental education outcomes.

Selection Criteria
The response to each criterion can be up to 250 words (300 in the Open). Responses should be accompanied by details of two technical referees and the candidate's CV, which can be up to 500 words.Nominations will be accepted which clearly demonstrate a positive impact in the field of Environmental Education. The impact can be at a worksite, business, program or organisation, in any state or territory, nationally and/or internationally.
The award panel’s selections will be based on the submission that best addresses the following criteria:1. Must be a member of the AAEE ACT (for open award).
2. Has made a significant contribution to the field of environmental or sustainability education in the ACT (EE/EfS).
3. Has exhibited leadership or mentorship that has influenced others.
4. Has demonstrated environmental and sustainability values through both their personal and professional life?
5. Outline the connections of the candidate's work to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Open category)
