AAEE ACT event with the NMA

Deadly Defining Moments @ National Museum Australia

When: Wednesday July 30th 4-5 pm
Where: National Gallery Australia (NMA)

Guided by a NMA staff educator, join us for a dynamic professional learning session that introduces the Deadly Defining Moments education program—an opportunity for students to explore key moments in Australia’s history through the lived experiences and activism of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Through an interactive tour of the National Museum of Australia’s galleries, you’ll discover how objects and personal stories can spark meaningful conversations about civics, citizenship, and social justice.

This session will:

  • Highlight defining moments in Australia’s history from First Nations perspectives

  • Showcase how the Museum’s galleries and themes support inquiry-based learning

  • Provide practical tools to connect classroom learning with active citizenship
