Link to ACT Healthy Waterways. Link to H2OK
Formerly ACT Gov's program 'Understanding Canberra’s Wetlands', ACT Healthy Waterways is
now a major stormwater infrastructure program that incorporates a school curriculum program enabling students to learn how constructed urban wetlands work to help us restore waterways to health.
The program aims to raise students’ understanding of the built and natural environment and
the management of storm-water. It consists of curriculum units (P-Y10) and includes case
studies at various locations (e.g. David Street Wetland, O’Connor ACT), wetlands in the ACT
and surrounds (see the full list at the website, image below) , teaching and learning
resources, glossary, ACT macro invertebrate food categories, animals of ACT wetlands, a
cross section of a typical constructed wetland and wetland food webs.
The original curriculum program can still be found as a downloadable pdf here: www.environment.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0007/575485/Urban_Wetlands_book.pdf
